CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A 5th birthday party dream.

It starts four years ago when Lauren Hawking was only a year old. She went into cardiac arrest and her mom Anne called 911. Police officers and medics arrived and resuscitated her.

Life since then has been a series of roller coasters for Lauren, who was born with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and who is legally blind. But recently, doctors noted she's in the best condition they’ve seen.

“We are finally coming to the end of a dark tunnel and wanted to celebrate so we invited the rescuers who saved her that frightening day four years ago, to her birthday party," says Anne.

Three firefighters and two medics from that team back in 2014 were able to attend, including the actual medic who heroically worked on Lauren for nearly 30 minutes.

“It was great to see them again, and for them to see Lauren. The best part was saying 'thank you' in person,”  said Anne.

Happy belated birthday, Lauren. Great idea for a party.
