STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A man is accused of breaking into a church in Statesville and stealing nearly hundreds of dollars.
According to the Statesville Police Department, investigators obtained surveillance footage of 29-year-old Travis Robert Wade breaking into the Front Street Baptist Church on June 20 around 3 a.m. Police say Wade forced open a locked office door and reportedly stole over $800 in offering money.
On Thursday, investigators say Wade had been arrested for narcotics violations when an officer "noted a strong similarity" between the suspect and the person caught on surveillance footage.
He was still in custody at the Iredell County Hail when police matched him as the suspect in the footage, police say.
Wade was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. He was given a $15,000 secured bond. Police say Wade is also facing drug charges.
