WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Wilmington Fire Department will be joining dozens of other firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel from all over the Carolinas for the 2018 Carolina Brotherhood.

Deputy Chief Steve Mason and Master Firefighter Patrick Farwell will be two of the 29 cyclists meeting in Moncks Corner, SC on Monday to take part in the event.

Established in 2012, The Carolina Brotherhood's mission is to "provide emotional and financial support for the families" of first responders.

This year's ride takes cyclists almost 600 miles in just five days.
