STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - Three people have been charged in connection to the January shooting that left a 9-year-old girl and two men injured in Statesville.
According to the Statesville Police Department, Enrico Dewoine Heggins, 34, Geneva Moneek Caldwell, 21 and Rayka Sade Ellis, 24 were charged for their involvement in the Jan. 9 shootings on Caldwell Street.
Heggins is charged with four counts of attempted homicide, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
Ellis was charged as an accessory before the fact in connection with the shooting.
Caldwell was arrested in Winston Salem and is charged with four counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property and discharging a firearm in city limits.
Police say the 9-year-old girl, a 40-year-old man and another male were all shot.
More than 60 rounds were fired into the Caldwell Street dwelling, and the girl who was shot has had multiple surgeries.
Heggins is currently in custody in Davie County in connection to a January raid on a motel room when large quantities of narcotics and firearms were found.
He was charged with murder and conspiracy for the Jan. 6 homicide of Freeman Jacobi Wells. Heggins was issued an additional $1 million secured bond for the new charges.
Ellis was arrested in Rowan County and transported to the Iredell County Jail, with a $100,000 secured bond.
Caldwell was taken to Statesville where she was taken before the magistrate and received a $2 million secured bond.
"The Collaborative's efforts in this investigation have been tremendous," said Statesville Police Chief Joe Barone. "I appreciate their work every day, but especially when it results in the successful arrests of suspects."
