Harold Varner III tied for lead at the Greenbriar

After a 3rd round 66, Gastonia's Harold Varner III finds himself tied for the lead heading into the final round of the Military Tribute at the Greenbriar.

Varner is looking for his first win on the PGA Tour and will be in the final pairing along with co-leader Kelly Kraft.

The former Forestview star started the 3rd round with 9 straight pars on the front side of the Old White Course in West Virginia, but would pull it together on the back side.  Varner would birdie holes 11,12, 14, and 17.  He would go on to shoot a 66 and finds himself at 14 under.

Kraft looked like he was about to run away with the tournament after consecutive birdies on 10, 11, and 12, but he would struggle coming down the stretch as he bogeyed 16 and 18 and open the door for others to be in contention.

There are currently 11 golfers within 4 shots of the lead including Bubba Watson who has won twice on the tour already this season and lives at the Greenbriar.

Varner has not won on the PGA Tour, but he has won internationally as he claimed the Australian PGA Championship back in 2016.
