CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Four people are in custody after allegedly leading officers on a chase in Union County Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, two men reportedly robbed a Verizon Wireless store on Highway 74 in Indian Trial at gunpoint just before noon. The robbers reportedly held up employees and customers who were inside the store, deputies say.

The robbers then fled from the scene in a vehicle. A short time later, the robbers reportedly switched out to another vehicle that was waiting for them in the Stallings area, deputies say.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police then spotted the vehicle in the Charlotte area and attempted to stop the driver. The driver refused and a chase began, police say. The chase then ended when the driver crashed on Pleasant Grove Road near Brookshire Boulevard, officers say.

It is unclear what charges they are facing.
