GREENVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A Greenville man was charged with threatening a South Carolina state representative Monday.

Officials say Ian Nicholas Nix was arrested in connection with making threats against S.C. State Representative Steven Long.

According to a report, Nix sent an electronic message on Facebook to Long.

"Right wing scum. I bet you won't fight me *explicit*. Your party's days are numbered. You're a *explicit* dead man," the message stated.

Nix admitted to sending the message to Representative Long and that he came across his Facebook page at random, the report stated. He says his comment was part of his "shtick" of being viewed as an "outlaw revolutionary."

Nix was charged with threatening life, person or family of a public official and booked at the Spartanburg Detention Center.
