A total of 296 Lenoir-Rhyne University student-athletes were named to the 2017-18 Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the spring semester, accomplishing an overall GPA of 3.29 for the spring of 2018.
“I am so impressed with our student-athletes’ all around commitment to excellence in the classroom, on the field and in the community,” stated Kim Pate, Director of Athletics. “Our coaches and student-athletes have really stepped up their commitment to academic success in recent years as is demonstrated by marked improvements to the overall department GPA which has increased from a 3.1 GPA in fall 2016 to a 3.29 at the conclusion of spring 2018.”
Individually, Lenoir-Rhyne had three student-athletes earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors: senior Landon Whitson in baseball, senior Noah McRea in men's swimming and women’s golf’s sophomore Ainee O’Connor.
McRea and senior soccer player Jens Roessler went on to be tabbed as the two Academic All-Americans from LR.
In addition, two Bears were named 2016-17 South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athletes Of The Year: senior lacrosse Goalkeeper Ryan Crompton and men’s golf senior Jackson Bailey.
Lenoir-Rhyne also led the South Atlantic Conference with 198 student-athletes on the Commissioner’s honor roll as announced last week.
