A traffic stop for what deputies say was a minor traffic violation led two men being arrested on drug charges.
Deputies pulled over a vehicle for the violation in the 300 block of North Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton around 2 p.m. Saturday. They have not said what that violation was.
During a search of the vehicle, the deputies found a quarter pound of marijuana in two packages along with a set of scales, 28.8 grams of methamphetamine on one person and a small amount of meth on the other.
William Albert Jay, 47, and Peter Edmayrd Jay III, 28, were both arrested.
William Jay is charged with two felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine and one felony count each of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to jail and given a $100,000 bond.
Peter Jay is charged with two felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine and one felony count each of maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
He was also served outstanding warrants for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center and given a $27,500 bond.
