GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A former teacher for Iredell-Statesville Schools was arrested in Gaston County Thursday on charges involving sex offenses with a minor.

Jonathan Conrad Busch, 54, of Mooresville, is charged with two counts each of statutory rape of a child under the age of 15 and indecent liberties with a child. According to the arrest warrants, the allegations against Busch involve a girl in Gaston County and took place in June and September of 2016.

Busch was a former teacher at Lake Norman High School in Mooresville. He was hired by the district as a social studies teacher in July 2003.

School officials say Busch resigned this week. They said the allegations did not involve any current or former student at Lake Norman High.

"Though the charges against the former teacher are extremely serious, the alleged incidents did not occur on the campus of Lake Norman High School nor involved any current or former students at the school," said Superintendent Brady Johnson.

Busch was arrested at 11:18 a.m. Thursday, posted a $20,000 bond and was released at 1:35 p.m.
