WESLEY CHAPEL, NC (WBTV) - Detectives seized a gun, a stolen motorcycle and more than $500,000 in cash from a home in Union County last week, according to officials.
According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, detectives received a tip and got a search warrant for a home located in the 1000 block of Heather Glen Drive in Wesley Chapel.
Officials located and seized a suitcase containing more than $500,000, a 9 mm handgun, suppressor and a stolen motorcycle.
Detectives arrested 48-year-old Vernice Nicks Simpson and charged her with possession or receiving of stolen goods.
The money was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and is subject to federal forfeiture.
On May 10, officials say this same home was targeted by several people who broke in and burglarized the residence.
The suspects in that case have not been identified and the investigation remains active.
