Peter Malnati is currently ranked the 673rd golfer in the world, but he leads the Wells Fargo Championship after 2 rounds.
Malnati fired at 3 under 68 today and is currently at 7 under for the tournament. He holds a one shot lead over Aaron Wise and Jason Day.
With so many unknown names at the top of the leader board to start the day, the big question became, would Tiger Woods make the cut and play this weekend at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Tiger made it interesting as entered his final hole of the day at 3 over. The projected cut line was 2 over.
On hole number 9, Tiger made his only birdie of the day to make the cut and he will play Saturday at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Turns out, the cut line would eventually get to 3 over.
Another crowd favorite, Phil Mickelson, flirted with the cut line all day as well. He started his round at 1 over. He would shoot another 1 over 72 today to finish his 2 rounds at 2 over which means Lefty will be playing this weekend at Quail Hollow as well.
First round leader, John Peterson struggled today in a big way.
After shooting a 6 under 65 on Thursday, he shot a 6 over 77 and is currently at even for the tournament.
Quail Hollow member Johnson Wagner is in the thick of the battle for the championship is he is at 4 under after shooting an even par 71 today.
Some note worthy tee times on Saturday include Mickelson going off at 9:04 a.m. Tiger Woods goes off at 9:40 a.m.
The number 2 golfer in the world, Justin Thomas goes off at 11:20. If he finished 12 or better, he will surge to the number one ranking. He is currently tied for 28th at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Day goes off at 1:30 along with Paul Casey who is 2 shots off the lead.
The final group of the day is Malnati and Wise as they will go off at 1:40.
