The cold air will stick around through Thursday morning before a nice taste of spring arrives for late week. Showers are back toward the weekend and early next week.
This morning, snow showers added up to decent accumulations across the mountains with Mt. Mitchell receiving nearly 9" in Yancey Co!
Snow showers will continue dissipating through early afternoon, leaving a cold and windy day in the mountains with highs struggling toward 40 degrees. Across the Upstate, sunny, cool, and breezy weather is expected with highs generally in the low 50s.
Thursday will be much milder with sunshine area-wide and highs reaching the upper 60s for the Upstate and low to mid 60s in the mountains. Once again, winds will be quite gusty and some fire danger concerns could develop.
Friday brings a chance of late-day showers, and these could spill over into St. Patrick's Day Saturday. Still, no washout is expected either day.
Another chance for rain or storms comes in by Monday or early Tuesday with near average temperatures (mid to upper 60s) expected.
