Senior Robert Davis and junior Roddric Ross have earned weekly CIAA men’s basketball honors it was announced on Tuesday.
Davis, from West Friendship, Md. earned Player of the Week honors after scoring 17 points in JCSU's win over Virginia Union and followed that with a 25-point outing at Shaw. He shot 52% from the field on the week (13-of-25) and was nearly perfect from the foul line, going 12-of-13 on the week for 92.3%. He currently leads the CIAA in scoring and is near the top in free throw percentage.
Ross, a product of Forest City, N.C., averaged 12.5 points per game last week and earned the league’s Newcomer of the Week honor. He had 10 points in JCSU's 65-63 win over Virginia Union. Against the Panthers, he shot 50% (4-of-8) from the field and was 1-of-3 from beyond the arc. In JCSU's 93-83 win at Shaw, he had 15 points and was 5-of-8 from the field. For the week, he returned a 56.3% shooting percentage.
On the season, this marks the second Player of the Week honor for Davis and third Newcomer of the Week award for Ross.
