Xavier Cooks named Big South Player of the Week for 2nd straight week

For the second straight week and the 4th time this season, Winthrop forward Xavier Cooks has been named the Big South Conference Player of the Week.

This is the 6th time in his career that Cooks has claimed this honor.

The Eagles went 2-0 last week as they are currently on a 6 straight game winning streak.

On Wednesday in a win over Longwood, Cooks finished the contest with 26 points and 6 assists.  Then on Saturday in a game against Campbell, the forward had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

For the week, Cooks averaged 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Winthrop is currently in a 3 way tie in first place in the Big South at 7-3 in conference play.  They are tied with Radford and UNC Asheville.  This week, the Eagles are at Liberty on Thursday and host Radford on Saturday in a potential battle for 1st.
