Police: Teen says man followed her near bus stop in Mint Hill

A high school student in Mint Hill informed police of a man that was following her on the way to the bus stop Monday morning.

According to the Mint Hill Police Department, the incident happened on Buckskin Lane.

The 16-year-old told police that she was walking to her bus stop when she saw a man get out of a black sedan that was parked on Leatherwood Court.

She said the man started following her, and she began to walk faster. As she got closer to the bus stop where others were standing, the man backed off.

Police said that she could only describe the man as wearing a heavy coat, standing approximately 6 foot tall and driving a black sedan. She couldn't provide any further description.

The teen stated that the man never spoke to her or made any attempt to reach out to her or grab her.  

There have been no other reports of individuals approaching children at bus stops in the Mint Hill area, or reports involving a vehicle of this type with any suspicious activity near bus stops. 

Citizens are reminded to call law enforcement immediately if they feel something is not right and have an uneasy feeling.
