SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - It may be a month or longer before 115 Livingstone College students can return to their dorms.
The students were displaced last Wednesday due to frozen and broken water pipes. The students were originally moved to the Livingstone Hotel and the Econo Lodge.
"Repairs at the dorm are not finished. Estimates show it could be a month or longer before repairs are completed," Livingstone officials say.
The displaced students lived in the college's Honors Residence Hall.
Livingstone says it will credit the accounts of those students who paid an extra $600 to have their own room at College Park, who will now have a roommate.
"We are trying to do everything possible to accommodate our students," said Dr. Orlando Lewis, vice president of Student Affairs. "We are responding to something that was caused by Mother Nature and we would appreciate the patience from students and parents as we navigate our response."
