Three hurt in pedestrian crash on I-85 near uptown

A pedestrian was struck and injured on Interstate 85 near uptown Charlotte afternoon, closing several lanes for a time.

According to officials with North Carolina Department of Transportation, the pedestrian was struck just after 11 a.m. on I-85 southbound at Exit 40 near Graham Street. NCDOT officials said two lanes at mile marker 40 have been shut down due to the incident.

One person suffered serious injuries and two others received minor injuries in the incident, Medic says.

A witness said that a car broke down in the middle lane. The driver then reportedly got out of the vehicle to check the hood, the witness said. That is when another vehicle rear-ended the victim's vehicle, according to the witness.
