SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Donnie Charleston, formally with the NC State Emerging Issues Center, will speak about the "2018 Economic Outlook" at the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce's Power in Partnership (PIP) breakfast on Thurs., January 18, 7:30 a.m. at Trinity Oaks (728 Klumac Road).
Charleston spoke at the Growing Rowan meeting in June 2017. He is a native of Salisbury and did an excellent job of summarizing our economic indicators for growth. Prior to the NC State, Donnie worked as a fiscal analyst for the NC General Assembly. He also previously worked as a research and policy analyst for the NC Association of County Commissioners where he examined issues of local government taxation and finance. He is a native North Carolinian and a graduate of NC Central University where he received his M.A. in Sociology. After receiving his M.A., Donnie entered the doctoral program at NC State where he focused on the Sociology of the economy and industry. He has authored several publications on workforce development, deindustrialization, and the history of agri-business in North Carolina.
The dates for the remaining 2018 series are: Feb. 15 (Entrepreneurial Development); March 15 (Agri-business); April 19 (Health Care); and, May 17 (Leadership Rowan Graduation).
Individual reservations are welcome; however, the reservation deadline is Tues., Jan. 16 by 5 p.m.The cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. The price includes the cost of breakfast and the program.
