Traffic stop leads to manhunt, three arrests in Chester

CHESTER, SC (WBTV) - Three people were arrested following a manhunt in Chester early Friday morning.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Nissan Versus was stopped for speeding on I-77 northbound near the York/Chester County line near mile marker 70, around 3 a.m.

The driver, Tonea Shakira Eubanks, 22, was arrested without resist and charged with speeding, driving under suspension and simple possession of marijuana.

The two remaining passengers fled the scene on foot.

The first passenger, Denzel Lebrew, 21, was arrested immediately, but has since been released.

The second passenger, Devin Anthony Smith, 19, was arrested eight hours later around 11 a.m. after a manhunt.

Smith was charged with unlawful carry possession of firearm, open container of liquor and simple possession of marijuana.

No further information has been released.
