CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - A man was arrested in Charlotte Thursday accused of stabbing a woman during a domestic dispute in Concord early in the morning.
Kelsey William McFadden, 43, is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, and kidnapping.
The arrest came after deputies were called to a home on the 7000 block of Merrymount Court around 4:30 a.m. According to the release, the 40-year-old victim had walked to a neighbor's front porch and collapsed.
Deputies said the victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen. She was taken to Carolinas Healthcare System NorthEast where she was still in critical but stable condition Thursday evening.
McFadden was soon determined to be the suspect in the case. He was arrested in Charlotte around 9:30 a.m. with the help of CMPD and transported back to Cabarrus County.
According to the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the same home the night before the incident for a domestic disturbance. They said McFadden had already left and was believed to be gone for the night.
Investigators say McFadden went back to the home around 4 a.m. They say two children were in the home at the time of the stabbing.
"Domestic violence is serious and often tragic. It affects the entire family and extended community," said Cabarrus County Sheriff Brad Riley. "Our thoughts are with all those affected by domestic violence."
