CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man was arrested in an armed bank robbery in south Charlotte Thursday morning.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the robbery happened around 9:38 a.m. at the Wells Fargo in the 700 block of Tyvola Road near South Boulevard.
Police say 49-year-old Ronald Lee Parker was charged with common law robbery and taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office after he was arrested Thursday.
In the robbery, Parker reportedly demanded money from a bank employee while holding a weapon. Once he got the money he fled the scene on foot.
Officers say witnesses gave them a detailed description of Parker, and they quickly located and arrested him after a brief on-foot pursuit.
The weapon was recovered and found to be a BB gun.
