ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) - A Rock Hill man has been arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies that occurred in early 2017.
According to the Rock Hill Police Department, 47-year-old Travis Lamont Gathers was charged Wednesday with five counts of armed robbery and five counts of possessing a weapon during a violent crime. Police say Gathers is accused of robbing the One Stop convenience store on West Main Street on Jan. 16.
Gathers also reportedly robbed the Citgo convenience store on Anderson Road on Feb. 2 and the Lebo's Shoe Store on North Cherry Road on Feb. 21, police say. He allegedly robbed a person who was making a bank deposit at the BB&T Bank on Dave Lyle Boulevard on Feb. 13, according to officers.
Gathers is also accused of robbing a T-Mobile on Cherry Road on March 10.
Police say they "worked throughout the year to develop Gathers as the suspect in all of these cases."
He was denied bond and taken to the Moss Justice Center, police say.
