BLOG: Snow begins to head north, wind chill warnings in effect for mountain counties
  • Deep Freeze Returns
  • Gusty Winds Too
  • More Seasonal Next Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - As the big Carolina snow storm moves north (which we missed, sorry kids), more cold air will pour back into the region reinforcing the cold air mass already in place.

For the mountains, a Wind Chill Warning and a Wind Chill Advisory are in effect with the higher elevations experiencing wind chills in the 15 - 25 degrees below zero range - dangerous!

For the remainder of the week, we won't see highs get above 40 degrees until next week and that's despite the fact we expect to see a string of sunny days through the weekend.  Plan on overnight lows falling back into the teens each of the next three nights.  After a rainy and chilly Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week are looking a lot better with plenty of sunshine to go around and afternoon readings returning to the 50s, maybe even a little bit above average for early January!

Stay warm!
