GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) - A teen accused of making violent threats at a Gaston County high school Wednesday is facing charges.
The Gaston County Police Department says the threats were reported at Hunter Huss High School on Facebook. Police identified the Facebook user and arrested 17-year-old Eleek Ratchford just after 12 a.m. Thursday.
Ratchford, a former student at Hunter Huss, is charged with disorderly conduct by disrupting students, cyberstalking and felony making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property.
Police say extra security will be on campus Thursday at both Hunter High School and at Stuart Cramer High School, where threats were also reported. Facebook posts were spread Wednesday by concerned parents.
Gaston County Schools says the schools are operating normally and have not experienced any problems.
