BLOG: Winter Storm Warning in effect for coast, light snow possible east of Charlotte

  • Another Frigid Start
  • Snow On The Beaches
  • Flurries Just East ???

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Probably not the news you wanted to hear, but our usual quick dip into cold temperatures simply has not and will not happen this time as another reinforcing cold front heads our way!

We're back in the teens again Wednesday morning, so plan for another frigid start.  Wednesday will bring a lot more cloud cover as a storm cuts up the coast just to our east.  Afternoon readings will reach the upper 30s but without the sun, it will feel just as cool as Wednesday.

A low pressure system will move up the coast Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. There will be several inches of snow for the coastal areas where Winter Storm Warnings are in effect, but most models are keeping the precipitation to our east. However, the storm system appears to have formed a little farther west than previously forecast, so there is some real concern that the blanket of snow could push a little farther west.

This means there could be at least a period of light snow or flurries late Wednesday into the evening hours for neighborhoods along and southeast of Interstate 85.  Something I am monitoring for sure!

After the storm blows by and dumps heavy snow on New England Thursday, another Arctic blast will follow, so we'll hold in the 30s each day with lows will be in the teens through the rest of the work week.

Keep warm!
