Thousands lose power in Charlotte, Mooresville area amid frigid temps

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - At least 2,800 homes were without power in the Charlotte and Mooresville areas Tuesday morning.

The power outage included the Northwest Health Department on Beatties Ford Road. The department was closed and officials said they were contacting patients who had appointments.

According to Duke Energy's Outage Map, 1,516 homes were without power in west Charlotte near West Charlotte High School. Residents reported the outages around 8 a.m. Power was restored to most of the residents by 10 a.m.

In Mooresville, 1,314 homes are without power in the area near Perth Road. By 1 p.m., that number had decreased to around 500. The outages were reported at 7 a.m.
