KANNAPOLIS, NC (WBTV) - No one was injured when a house caught fire in Kannapolis Monday night.
According to the Kannapolis Fire Department, a police officer reported a fire at a home located in the 500 block of Dale Earnhardt Boulevard just before 9 p.m. Firefighters say heavy flames could be seen at the residence.
Crews were able to extinguish the blaze within four minutes. Firefighters say the American Red Cross is helping the people who live in the home.
According to the fire department, "the frigid temperatures in the region add an extra risk to firegound operations as any water instantly turns to ice around the fire scene."
Multiple fire departments and Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services were on scene assisting with the blaze. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire but believe it was "electrical in nature."
At least two people who live in the home were displaced, officials said.
