Southwest Charlotte house fire intentionally set, completely destroyed

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police say a home that was completely destroyed by a fire was intentionally set in southwest Charlotte early Sunday morning.

The fire started at a home in the 5500 block of Queen Anne Road around 1 a.m.

Police arrested Jamie Ackerman in connection to the arson.

According to firefighters, five people lived at the home but only four were present at the time of the fire. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Officials say there was $100,000 worth of damage structurally, in addition to valuables lost in the fire.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist the family locating alternative housing.

Officials say it took firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
