CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - A man accused of killing two people in Massachusetts in October was arrested Tuesday in Concord.
US Marshals identified the man as 35-year-old, Carmelo Kercado Jr.
On Dec. 19, the US Marshals located Kercado in northwest Concord, arrested him and transported him to Cabarrus County Jail, where he is currenttly awaiting extradition back to Massachusetts.
It is believed that Kercado shot and killed 27-year-old Stephen Bodden and 28-year-old Fabio Tavares while they were driving in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Officials say he shot one victim in the head, and the other multiple times while they were in the car.
The vehicle reportedly crashed and Kercado fled on foot.
Kercado was charged with murder, carrying a firearm without license, and shooting a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
When officials went to make the arrest, they surrounded a home in the 2800 block of Eagle View Place. He was taken into custody after a brief standoff.
