CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A man reportedly stole a woman's vehicle at gunpoint while she was in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant in northwest Charlotte Wednesday night.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, the woman was robbed at gunpoint while in the drive-thru of a McDonald's restaurant on Beatties Ford Road. Police say 20-year-old Gregory Fondren allegedly went up the victim's vehicle and pointed a gun at her. That is when the victim reportedly exited the vehicle and Fondren drove it away, officers say.
A short time later, police say officers found the stolen vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop. Fondren reportedly refused and then lead police on a chase, according to CMPD.
During the chase, Fondren struck a vehicle at Central Avenue and Rosehaven Drive and then continued driving before ending up in the parking lot of a QuikTrip on Central Avenue and Sharon Amity Road, police say. According to police, three people then jumped and ran from the vehicle but were later detained.
Fondren was charged with robbery. The two other people who were detained have not been charged, according to officers. Police say two BB guns were seized during the incident.
