LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A man is facing a charge of attempted murder after deputies say he shot through the door of a home in Gaston County Sunday night.
According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened in the 5800 block of Aster Lane in Stanley around 7 p.m. Deputies say 69-year-old Johnny Lee Finandis reportedly shot into the front door after an argument.
Deputies say the incident began when Johnny Finandis' wife, Felicia Finandis, 55, reportedly started arguing with her son's girlfriend because she was "laughing at something they were watching on television." That is when the two women got into an altercation, deputies say. The sheriff's office says the son then stepped in between the two women and Felicia Finandis allegedly "began swinging a knife."
Felicia Finandis then allegedly struck her son in his finger, according to deputies.
Deputies say the argument continued and Johnny Finandis and his wife went outside. The sheriff's office says those who stayed inside then locked the front door, resulting in Johnny Finandis reportedly shooting through the door. Deputies say a small child was lying on an inflatable mattress near where Johnny Finandis reportedly had shot into the door.
Johnny Finandis was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and discharging a firearm into an occupied property. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center with no bond, deputies say.
Felicia Finandis was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. Deputies say she is being held in jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
No one was struck by gunfire, deputies say.
