Many of us will be close to freezing Monday morning - some of us for the first time this season. There is a Freeze Warning in effect for most of the area through 10 a.m. and a Wind Advisory has been issued for Avery, Ashe and Watauga counties until 11 a.m. We will be close to freezing for all areas with 20s in the mountains.

Avery County Schools are closed Monday due to snow and ice on the roads. Watauga County Schools are operating on a two-hour delay due to the chilly weather.

After that, we will rebound to the low 60s Monday afternoon as sunshine prevails. It won't be quite so cold Monday night, but most neighborhoods will still in be the 30s.  We will make it to the upper 60s on Tuesday and near 70 degrees on Wednesday as sunshine will abound all week.

If you're not really ready to commit to the cold weather for good, we will be back in the low to mid 70s by the second half of the week.
