Coroner identifies man found shot to death in Greenville Co. after altercation

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they are investigating after a person was found shot to death Thursday morning at the intersection of Appaloosa Drive and Gethsemane Drive. 

Deputies said they were dispatched to the area just after 11 a.m. after receiving a call about a gunshot victim. 

Deputies said they arrived to find a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The coroner said the the victim had been involved in an altercation prior to being shot. Sheriff Will Lewis said the man was rushed to Greenville Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead. 

Sgt. Ryan Flood said a SWAT team had a house surrounded just after noon. He said the house either a person of interest or another victim may be inside.

Lewis said the house is where deputies believe the initial conflict took place. He said the victim was found about 75 yards from the home.

Flood said Gethsemane Drive was closed off while deputies investigated.

Flood asked people to avoid the Mustang Village community for a few hours while the investigation was underway.

The SWAT truck cleared the area around 1:30 p.m.

The coroner identified the victim as 31-year-old Jeffrey Eugene Bradley of Greenville. His cause and manner of death are pending, however he was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial Hospital at 11:29 a.m.

This case remains under investigation by the coroner's office and Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
