ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Assessors from the National Institute of Corrections, a federally funded group,  on Thursday detailed several issues with Anderson County's criminal justice system during a six-month assessment.

Assessors detailed their findings during a public meeting in Anderson County Council Chambers.

The issues assessors said Anderson County is facing are:

  • Case processing

  • Lack of services for people with mental illness and substance abuse; limited programs for all
  • No focused mission

Assessors did note that their was cooperation among the county's criminal justice partners and involvement with the business community on nonprofits.
