CAMPOBELLO, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies in Spartanburg County said a Campobello homeowner has been charged with murder after shooting and killing an Inman woman Wednesday evening.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived at a residence in the 200 block of Patterson Road in Campobello just after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found one deceased victim.

The owner of the home was also taken to the Sheriff's Office for questioning.

The coroner later identified the victim as 34-year-old Laura "Ashley" Hood of Inman. An exam is to be completed to determine her exact cause of death, but the coroner said the woman suffered at least one gunshot wound.

On Thursday morning, deputies said the homeowner, Donald Anthony Partaka, 59, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

"When Partaka initially called 911, he told dispatchers he had shot an unknown intruder who unlawfully entered his residence, but the investigation revealed his account not to be accurate," said Lt. Kevin Bobo with the sheriff's office.

Investigators are still working to determine a motive for the killing.

A friend of the victim's said Hood worked at the Village Green Golf Course.
