WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The US Marshals arrested a man wanted in Surf City on armed robbery, kidnapping, and assault charges.

According to a spokesperson for the US Marshals, Harvey Wade Capps, 33, was taken into custody at a residence on Cadfel Court in Wilmington around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Capps was booked into the New Hanover County Jail and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault by strangulation, first-degree kidnapping, and interfering with emergency communication.

Capps was given a $20,000 bond and later transferred to the Pender County Jail. Following his court appearance in Pender County Wednesday, a judge increased his bond to $1 million.

According to Surf City Police Chief Ron Shanahan, Capps was visiting a friend's house in Surf City on Aug. 31 when a physical altercation broke out between Capps and the victim.

Capps allegedly struck the victim with his fists and eventually hit the victim with a wooden stick. He also prevented the victim from calling 911 for help, Shanahan said.

Following the assault, Capps allegedly restrained the victim and robbed them of cash.
