UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Seven-year-old Katie Long in Stallings gets it.
"Tonight, she said she wanted to start a donation box," said Katie's mom, Sheila. "She handed me a letter to put in the box and it stopped me in my tracks."
The note was addressed to a "Texas family." In it, the young girl said she was giving the family "all the allowance I have so you can buy some supplies for your house."
The note from the 7-year-old went on, "I'm sorry for what you've been through. We will be praying for you."
"My husband and I had not made the first donation, and I felt terrible! My 2nd-grader made me realize we needed to do something quick. We're making a donation tonight," the mother said.
After hearing and reading all the terrible stories coming out of Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, a simple letter from a young girl cuts through it all.
