Water Quality Advisory lifted for two Charlotte ponds after sewage spill

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A Water Quality Advisory issued for two ponds at a southeast Charlotte park following a sewage spill Friday has been lifted.

According to a spokesperson with Mecklenburg County, a private facility discharged sewage which entered a small stream that flows into two ponds at McAlpine Creek Park on Monroe Road on August 25.

The county said Thursday that "necessary repairs" to stop the discharge were completed.

"Water samples collected in the cove by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services' staff reveal that bacteria counts are within safe limits," officials said.
