CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte Fire Department is preparing to send a swift water rescue team to Texas Thursday to assist in rescuing victims trapped in Harvey floodwaters.
Charlotte firefighters are expected to leave at 10 a.m. from the Charlotte Police and Fire Training Academy on Shopton Road. The team expects to stay for between five and eight days to perform swift water rescues.
At least four other Charlotte rescue teams will head to Texas Thursday to assist.
By Wednesday afternoon, Charlotte firefighters had made the first helicopter rescue in flood-ravaged Texas when they pulled a stranded woman to safety.
