Two people shot in apparent drive-by near uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Two people were shot in an apparent drive-by shooting near uptown Charlotte Wednesday night, according to police.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex on the 2200 block of Catherine Simmons Avenue, north of uptown. The victims said they were in the parking lot of the complex when a vehicle drove down the street and someone shot them from the vehicle.

The victims then drove to the 300 block of Trade Street where they met emergency officials.

One victim, who was shot in the leg, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. The other victim was treated at the W. Trade St. scene. Both are expected to be OK.

Police are working to determine a motive for the shooting.
