CABARRUS COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Traffic is expected to shift in Cabarrus County Wednesday night as part of a $13 million project to replace two bridges over Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Traffic will shift on U.S. 29 South near N.C. 73 in Concord.
"Weather permitting, crews will close the right lane on U.S. 29 South at 6 p.m., moving traffic to a temporary pattern. The same shift will take place for the left lane," the North Carolina Department of Transportation says.
Traffic control is expected to clear by 6 a.m. Thursday.
Additional work to finalize the temporary traffic pattern will happen after Labor Day.
"Future traffic shifts will be scheduled as the project continues, scheduled to wrap up in the spring of 2020," NCDOT says.
