ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) plans to add new jobs and a $27 million investment to a logistics center in Cleveland, the company announced Friday.
The new center is expected to be completed in early 2019.
"DTNA is committed long-term to doing business in Cleveland, and this is our next step toward continued manufacturing excellence involving end-to-end logistics," Cleveland Truck Manufacturing Plant Manager Henning Bruns said. "This is an important investment that helps further our commitment to efficiency in all our processes, which benefits both our employees and our customers."
The new center will consolidate multiple existing warehouses and implement advanced lean logistics concepts.
The company says they also have the ability to convert forklifts to tuggers and automated guided vehicles. "This will create safer and more efficient traffic patterns throughout the plant, boosting DTNA's reputation for manufacturing excellence," DTNA says.
Freightliner Trucks is a division of DTNA, headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
