Police: Traffic stop turns up moonshine, cocaine, marijuana

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

A traffic stop on Thursday night at the intersection of Horah and Jackson Streets in Salisbury turned up moonshine, cocaine, and marijuana, according to police.

An officer stopped a car for having a fictitious license tag.

When the officer searched the car he found that the driver, Thomas Edwin Brown, 57, was holding a small white bag that contained cocaine.

More individual bags of cocaine were found in the car, along with 17 individuals bags of marijuana, and a jar of moonshine.

Drug paraphernalia was also found.

Brown was charged with possession with the intent to sell cocaine, possession with the intent to sell marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a vehicle for the drug trade.  Bond was set at $7500.

John Mark Chambers, 56, a passenger in the car, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and having an open container of alcohol.
