Man found guilty in Rowan Superior Court murder trial

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Destin Sloan, 25, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the death of Kerry Gray.

Sloan could face over 7 years in prison.

Gray, 39, was shot multiple times in the driveway of Sloan's home in July 2014.

After the incident, neighbors called police and reported the incident on Maria Lane near Needmore Road. Sloan was still on the scene when police arrived.

Deputies say a search of Sloan's residence turned up 16 grams of crack cocaine, approximately $1000 in cash, and a rifle. Investigators say they also seized 2 handguns from his car, a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis.

In addition to the murder, Sloan was also charged with  possession with intent to manufacture, sell, & deliver a schedule II controlled substance, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, & deliver a schedule IV controlled substance, and several counts of failure to appear.

Sloan gave notice that he would appeal.
