WENTWORTH, NC (WBTV) - Two explosive devices were found in a golf cart in Rockingham County Saturday morning.
According to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, 43-year-old Terry Michael Martin is facing two counts of felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
Deputies said they initiated a traffic stop after they saw a golf cart traveling south on Business 220 in the Piedmont Stone area of Wentworth around 4 a.m. A juvenile was reportedly driving the golf cart and Martin was the passenger, deputies say.
The two explosive devices were found in the golf cart, but were "safely detonated on scene," according to deputies.
The juvenile's name will not be released, deputies said.
Martin was placed in jail under a $5,000 secured bond. He is expected to have his first court appearance in the Rockingham County District Court on September 6.
