BURKE COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A Burke County deputy went to the hospital after being exposed to chemicals at the scene of a breaking and entering call Tuesday.
The Burke County Sheriff's Office says the deputy was called to the breaking and entering at a facility that had been closed for years.
"Within minutes of leaving the scene and while out at the next call for service, the deputy experienced some medical issues that were believed to be related to exposure to chemicals on the site of the Breaking and Entering," deputies say.
The deputy was treated, observed and released from the hospital Tuesday evening.
Burke County Emergency Operations is working with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
