BURKE COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A Burke County deputy suffered from medical issues that were believed to be related to chemical exposure Tuesday.
The deputy was responding to a breaking and entering call at a facility that had been closed for years. According to the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the deputy started having issues within minutes of leaving the scene.
The deputy was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released Tuesday evening.
Burke County Emergency Operations is working with North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources to investigate the site of the facility.
