SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Rowan County is headed back to the Little League softball World Series title game for the third straight year after beating Indiana 6-5 on Tuesday night in a hard fought contest.
The Rowan girls got on the scoreboard first with a single run in the third inning.
Indiana tied it up in the fourth taking advantage of a lead-off walk and a base hit. Strong defense kept Indiana from adding any more runs.
Rowan regained the lead in the fifth when pinch hitter Lilli Heard got a one out single. Kenadi Sproul followed with a hit that scored Bentli Meadows who came in to run for Heard.
Indiana answered in the bottom of the fifth with a single run on a wild pitch to tie the game.
Rowan started the sixth with Emma Clarke reaching on a single. Bentli Meadows followed with a single, then Allie Burns ripped a single down the third base line to put Rowan back on top.
Three more runs scored to put Rowan up 6-5.
Indiana rallied in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs.
Rowan plays for the championship tonight at 9:00 pm against Texas on ESPN 2.
