Rowan girls roll on, beat Asia Pacific 11-1

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - The girls of the Rowan County Little League softball team are now 5-0 in World Series play.

Asia-Pacific (Philippines) watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-1 loss to Rowan on Monday. Rowan took the lead on a two-run double by Madelyn Von Canon in the first inning.

Rowan scored five runs in the third inning. The big inning was driven by a stolen base, a fielder's choice by Bentli Meadows, and a single by Brooke Kennerly.

Madelyn earned the win for Rowan. She tossed three and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run, two hits, and striking out one.

Rowan had 16 hits in the game. Emma Clarke, Madelyn, Kenadi Sproul, Kendall Robinson, and Brooke each collected multiple hits for Rowan.

Rowan was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Kendall made the most plays with six.

Rowan will have its second straight nationally televised game tonight, playing Indiana at 9 pm. on ESPN 2.
